Physical format
In July, Sony announced it will stop manufacturing physical PlayStation games from January 2028. Fans at gamescom mourned it, the “Does it play?” collective keeps an open-ended boycott going, and Sony CFO Lin Tao says they are moving ahead “cautiously”. For retro it cuts both ways: physical becomes rarer and, over time, more valuable.

NEOGEO AES+
PLAION REPLAI was due to launch the new Neo Geo on 12 November and has moved it to 16 September 2027: too much demand and a worldwide shortage of memory chips, soaked up by AI investment. Pre-orders keep their place and the price is unchanged. The Metal Slug cartridge re-release waits with it.
