Píxel a Píxel, the chronicle we were missing
Ángel Tirado, who drew games at Dinamic in the eighties, has made the most complete documentary yet on almost fifty years of video games made in Spain.

Some documentaries are made from the outside, and others by someone who was there. Píxel a Píxel: Crónicas del Videojuego Español (Pixel by Pixel: Chronicles of Spanish Video Games) is one of the latter. It’s directed by Ángel Tirado, graphic artist on Capitán Sevilla at Dinamic and co-director of ¡No nos gusta Capitán Morcilla!, another essential documentary about the Golden Age of Spanish software.
This time the lens is wider: almost fifty years of history, from Javier Valero’s first arcade machines to today’s studios, such as Tequila Works and The Game Kitchen. Along the way come La Pulga, Made in Spain, Opera, Topo, Dinamic, Pyro, Rebel Act and Mercury, with one question running underneath: what defines a video game made here.
